I found the assigned readings and in-class discussions incredibly engaging and thought-provoking. To my surprise, I also really enjoyed learning how to use Qualtrics! Even though it was a bit daunting at first, I am glad that I got the opportunity to learn this important tool! I can definitely see myself using it for other GOV classes or projects at Wesleyan.
I also learned how to analyze data, make charts, and do write ups about information we looked at. It was something I had done before in my statistics class but didn’t get to use fully until this class. It kind of made me want to explore statistics more.
Professor Dancey's Legislative Politics and Elections Lab was the highlight of my time at Wesleyan. The lab offered me an opportunity to expand my computational skills while building community with my lab mates. Professor Dancey engaged with us throughout the research process, culminating in a presentation at the Midwest Political Science Association Conference. It was an invaluable experience and helped prepare me for a career working with data.
